Pakistan Red Crescent FATA Mohmand agency branch has organized a three-day training workshop titled “Volunteering in Emergencies” that focused on capacity building and to promote the spirit of volunteerism among the youth.
The
closing ceremony was held at PRC Mohmand agency office here at Lower Mohmand
Sub-Division Ekkaghund on Thursday.
On
the occasion Assistant Political Agent Lower Mohmand Touseef Khalid was the
Chief Guest while Media and Communication Officer PRC FATA Muhammad Farid Khan
Shinwari, Agency Secretary PRC Mohmand Fauzee Khan Mohmand and Agency Program
Officer PRC Mohmand Irfan Ullah were also present.
The three day event comprised different
sessions including Youth as an agent of Behavioral change (YABC), First Aid,
Community Based Risk Education & Victims Assistance (CBRE/VA), Restoring
Family Links(RFL), Communication, climate change adaptation and disaster
management in emergencies.
The First Aid trainer Muhammad Traiq demonstrated
different first aid techniques to the audience on day one.
The
participants were introduced about the concept of YABC, focusing on its
behavioral skills including empathy, social inclusion, critical thinking and
having an unbiased approach. Moreover, a session on Media and Communication in
Emergencies focused on the essential techniques for effective communication
with media and beneficiaries during emergencies. This was followed by a session
on Community based education and victims’ assistance and Climate Change were
discussed.
The final day of the workshop introduced the
volunteers to the Restoring Family Links program of PRC which focuses on
uniting families during disasters/ emergencies.
It was followed by
training session on disaster management.
About 20 volunteers from various tehsils of
the agency participated in the training.
Addressing the closing ceremony, PRC FATA
Mohmand Agency Secretary Fauzee Khan Mohmand briefed the audience about the
importance of volunteerism.
Addressing on the occasion APA Touseef Khalid
appraised the PRC Mohmand activities in the tribal region.
He said that PRC Mohmand agency branch played
their due roles in the time of disaster in the area.
APA assured that the local administration
will support the PRC Mohmand branch whatever they need.
He urged the volunteers to take keen interest
in disaster management (DM) and others basic trainings for the welfare of the
area.
At
the end APA Lower Mohmand Touseef Khalid, Media and Communication Officer
Muhammad Farid Khan Shinwari and Secretary Fauzee Khan distributed training
certificates among the trainees.
