GHALANAI, April 2: Lower Mohmand Assistant Political Agent Touseef Khalid has urged Mohmand tribesmen and local’s residents from all walks of life to create awareness about dengue threat in the tribal region.
While talking on the occasion of a dengue awareness walk at Ekkaghund Bazaar here on Monday, he said the local administration, health department, Pakistan Red Crescent, civil society, journalist and education department should join hands against dengue. He stressed that joint efforts could help stop dengue threat in the tribal region.
 FSMO Dr. Shabir Khan, Tehsildar Ekkaghund Khista Rehman, Tehsildar Ambr Riazul Haq, PRC Mohmand Staff Volunteers and ta large numbers of tribal elders participated in the walk.
The participants were carrying banners and placards inscribed with messages for dengue prevention.
Walked from Civil colony to Babi Mohmand to sensitize the masses to adopt precautionary measures for dengue prevention.
The participants of the walk were carrying banners and charts inscribes with anti- dengue awareness slogans and PRC Volunteers also distributed dengue awareness pamphlets among the tribesmen.
Later, Dr. Shabir Khan and teams of social mobilisers briefed residents about the proper disposal of garbage instead of openly disposing it off. Awareness campaign also included public briefing, leafleting, door stepping and on-the-spot complaint redressal.
Awareness walks were also held in the border area of Biazai where Assistant political agent Biazai Sher Alam Khan, health department officials and took part in the walk.
On the occasion APA Sher Alam khan urged the local tribesmen to adopt the preventive measures against dengue stressed by the health department.
He said that cleanliness plays an important role to root out the dengue fever from the area because mosquitoes inhibit where there is no proper cleanliness.
 Also in the day an awareness walk held in the Main Mandi Bazaar upper Mohmand Sub-Division tehsil Haleemzai where Assistant Political Upper Mohmand Tariq Ullah stresses upon the locals’ residents particularly the civil society to play their due roles in the awareness against dengue in the tribal region.
He said that awareness played a key role in fight against dengue because prevention was far better than cure. He said that it was the responsibility of every citizen to play his role for controlling dengue and protecting citizens from this dangerous disease by adopting all precautionary measures.
Dr. Shabir khan gave presentations on various aspects of dengue fever, its various stages and prevention and control.
