FATA DA urged to starts construction works on Gandao Small Dam At Mohmand Agency

The Additional Political Agent Mohmand Agency Hamid-Ur-Rehman along with FATA Development Authority Agency Development Officer Mohammad Tariq Khan and Others department’s officials visited the site of under construction Gandao small dam near headquarters Ghalanai on Tuesday.

He checked the all the construction works and water tanks which were made for filtration and drinking water purposes.

It will be mentioned here that site was attacked by militants in the early hours of September 25, 2013, thereby killing three persons and wounding six others.

Moreover two laborers were taken captives the huge machineries were also ablaze and destroyed.

Construction is still stopped from the last four years because the dam contractor submitted case for payment of compensation Rs.23 Million in advance against FDA, FATA DA officials told that contract agreement of the contractor expired and performance guarantee re-validated and restart construction at dam site.

The Additional Political Agent said that the dam is drinking water supply project for the headquarters Ghalanai and its sour rending areas, aimed to serve a population of about 96,365 persons in the year 2060@ 10 gallons per capita per day.

The peoples of Haleemzai tehsil particularly the headquarters Ghalanai were facing acute shortage of drinking water therefore FATA-DA should resume works on the said dam so that to resolve the issue on permanent basis.
