Administration launched third Campaign against Leishmaniasis in Mohmand.

GHALANAI, May 31:After reception of 400 injections from HQ/FC, third phase of Leishmaniasis treatment campaign launched in selected health facilities in Mohmand Agency says in a press release from the office of the political agent Mohmand agency here on Wednesday.

On the first day of the campaign 282 patients, predominantly children were treated today, with the following basic health Units in BHU Nawai Kally tehsil Prang Ghar 68, Biazai 35, BHU Lakaro 64, BHU Qandharo 48 and BHU Mamad Ghat 67.

It will be mentioned here that Mohmand agency received a much-needed batch of 400 Glucantime Vials (injections) for the treatment of Leishmaniasis infected patients a week ago. HQ FC North arranged the Medicine, when three weeks back Political Agent Mohmand sought help from Inspector General FC North Major General Waseem Ashraf in arranging injections required for the 1700 under treatment patients, 1400 of whom are children in the Agency.

The disease of Leishmania has been controlled as numbers of affected vaccinated and have reached to 1700 in all three tehsils of Mohmand Agency, Political Agent Muhammad Wasif Saeed told local journalists here at agency headquarters Ghalanai on Wednesday.

The most affected areas  the tehsil Safi were including Lakaro, Qandahari, Mamad Gat, Alingar, tehsil Prang Ghar and some areas of Haleemzai.

Moreover as a preventive measure LLIN (long lasting insecticide nets) were also handed over to the following health facilities Lakkaro, Mamad Ghat, Qandhrai and Nawe Kally each 100.

Furthermore, 120 bed nets were handed over to tehsildar Baizai to be distributed in Ghanam shah, Yara Khel & Speenki Tangi area.

The campaign will last until the registered and under treatment, patients receive their third dose. The political administration is confident that owing to the timely and generous help extended by HQ/FC in arranging the rare Glucantime injections not only the existing patients will get adequate treatment but new patients if any shall also be cured in the Agency.
