First ever Mohmand Female Sports Gala begins.

GHALANAI, Feb 20:Mohmand Agency first ever Female Sports Gala carrying different disciplines got under way here at Government Girls Degree College Ekkaghund Lower Mohmand Sub-Division under the aegis of Agency Sports Office, Directorate of Sports FATA Secretariat with collaboration of local administration here on Tuesday.

Assistant Political Agent Ekkaghund Touseef Khalid was the chief guest on this occasion. Tehsildar Ekkaghund Khaista Rehman, Agency Sports Manager Saeed Akhtar Khan, Principal Girls Degree College Ekkaghund Alia Mustafa, college staff, officials and female players from various girl’s high schools and college of Mohmand Agency were also present. Talking to media Touseef Khalid said that the local administration with the help of Directorate of Sports FATA Secretariat have initiated the 4^th Edition of Mohmand Sports, Cultural & Youth Festival and for the first time female players and seminaries students were given chance to participates in this event.

He said that the female players from Government Degree College Ekkaghund and various girl’s high schools of Mohmand Agency are taking part in different sports & youth activities and such like activities would be organized in other tehsils as well.

He said that we have started this activity so that opportunities should be provided to local youth to showcase their talent to the world. These participants will be given further chance to compete at agency and Fata level.

Touseef Khalid told that holding of such activities is to convey peace message to the rest of world and said that sports are necessary for a healthy growth and every youth should take active part in sports activities.

Agency Sports Manager Saeed Akhtar Khan said that the female players have been provided sporting gears like track-suite, shoes and game uniform besides other sports equipment in order to provide maximum playing opportunities to the females of the tribal region.

For that purpose, we have organized the first ever female sports gala today in the Girls Degree College Ekkaghund in which huge number of female players have participated.  

“Besides athletic and tug-of-war, the female will also take part in badminton, volley ball, and other competitions like national songs, debates, local cultural games & PT Show” Akhtar told.
